Water in bilges
On a new boat, ie 6 hours of running so far, is it normal to have water in the bilges ? I am not saying its a foot deep or anything, but if I go down to the boat (215as) i find that there is a small amount in the gully where the pump is situated, I am sure that the pump gets rid of some as well as and whe it needs to whilst on auto mode.
Also, I have noticed that under acceleration the pump fires up in auto mode, so I am assuming that water is running back as bow is raised and pump is clearing what is left ?
any ideas ? or is this perfectly normal ?

Arvor logos on new boats
Guys, has anyone any idea why they have now taken the Arvor logos from the side of the new blue hull boats and put a Quicksilver name at the rear ??
Dave, I see on your lovely new 25 you have the logo loud and proud !!

Viewing gps/fishfinder from the cockpit.
Has anyone given any thought to how you could view the plotter and fishfinder from the cockpit?
I have standard fitment electronics on my 215, I was thinking of some kind of repeater flip down screen?
Keep meaning to ask JG electronics who is local, but in the meantime if anyone has any bright ideas...
Windlass Remote
Promised I would put photo up of a windlass remote.
There are of course deck fittings, but they are fixed and allow no movement.
This coily lead remote extends to 3 metres, so enough to walk almost back to the cabin whilst still retrieving the anchor, (Especially handy if on your own)
I understand there are wireless remotes available (But i have not seen these)
paint
can anyone tell me the paint code ral number for the arvor 230 hull and surround thank you

Big Up For The Aqualarm.
Well am I glad I fitted the Aqualarm (Notifies you when raw water flwo is restricted).
Got to boat today, and set rods up and all ready for the off.
Started boat and noted the Aqualarm light was on.
Looked over back of boat and NO water was exiting the exhaust.
Switched engine off and did the first checks.
Sea strainer (Clear)
Seacock (On, which I knew anyway)
Hose down to seascoop and blow (Clear)
Start engine again... Warning light still on, no water exiting exhaust.
People can probably / possibly imagine how I am starting to feel now
Removed the raw water pump, and with 90 hours on the engine, here are a couple of photos of the impeller.
90 Hours.!!!!!!!
I have owned it since it had 10 hours on it, and whilst I can GUARANTEE with 100% certainty I have never run it dry, what I can not verify is the previous 10 hours operation.
All I hope is that the fragments have all exitied the system and there are no parts of rubber blocking any waterways.
Of course, even though I was less than best pleased. I did wander over to the local chandlers, and then got in the car and visited a further 4 chandlers, but wouldnt you know it, whilst they all stock Jabsco Impellers, none of them stock Sherwood, and what is fitted to the Arvor? Damned right, Sherwoods.
On previous boats I always made a point of carrying a spare impeller, with so little hours on this, I really didnt expect to have to replace one already.
The Aqualarm did exactly what it is designed to do though.. It alerted me to the fact there was no water running through the engine.

Squiding.
Just popped out of the harbour in Weymouth with some squid jigs and had 4 nice squid at dusk in half an hour or so. Cooking one up in a bit and prepped the rest but kept the heads and fins for possible cod or Bass bait for the weekend. Fingers crossed. The biggest was just over 2 1/2lb.

VW Turbo Support, Use, and Servicing.
Its long been a concern for new buyers and owners alike about what is documented as the "Turbo Issue".
Over the years we as members have benefited hugely from our very own guru "Martin" and more lately "Stuartarvor215" who is able to service and clean Turbos at a fraction of the renewal cost.
Within the "Members" section there is also the detailed VW Endorsed and Released "Service Schedule" which details the use of WD40 and Chesterton 785 Graphite release spray in the service regime.
VW, then Cummins and most lately E.P.Barrus have honoured replacing sticking turbos on a free of charge replacement basis. Even on boats in excess of 5 - 6 years old. Lately I have been contacted by an owner who was informed repalcements were no longer being issued free of charge.
I contacted Jonathan at E.P.Barrus as he has been the point of contact throughout, and this is was the response.
Good afternoon Dave
Thank you for your email.
I also appreciate the feedback.
At the end of July Brunswick Marine informed me that they had brought the good
will turbo replacement scheme to an end.
Unfortunately, this is beyond my control and I apologise.
I can only recommend that owners use red or white diesel that meets BS EN 590,
and use their boat as often as possible.
Please don't hesitate to contact me, should you require any further information.
Best regards
Jonathan Hay
I have personally thanked Jonathan for his support, and whilst it would have been nice if replacements had carried on for ever, I think we all knew it would end one day.
I think the situation going forward should be..
Use the boats and use them regularly.
Do not run them on the mooring for extended periods of time (Just to top the batteries up)
If the boat is likely to be left for periods of extended non use (2 months and longer), then perform the Chesterton service.
Service / repairs / replacement, contact Stuartarvor215 on the forum or visit http://www.arvormarineparts.co.uk/
Cheers

Arvor 190 Coding.
Hello.
This is my first post. I would like to know if anyone has had there Arvor 190 coded to car passengers for short sea runs or sea angling? I have an idea of using the boat as a sea taxi in the summer.
Cheers.

Arvor 215as Cutless Bearing
Hi all,
I gave a friend of mine a hand in removing the prop from his Arvor 215as. Once the prop was removed we noticed that the cutless bearing had moved approx. 5mm out from the end of the prop. shaft tube, is this normal? or should it be flush with the end of the prop. shaft tube?
(There is no movement on the prop shaft)
Thanking you
Alan
